About Us

Behind The Ink
I founded The House of Calligraphy because I believe slow, beautiful things still matter.
I'm Liz - a Wellington calligrapher, mother, and creative spirit drawn to the timeless art of writing by hand. What began as quiet evenings at my kitchen table - ink-stained and captivated by elegant script - soon became my passion.
By day, I worked in IT. But by night, I returned to something meaningful: hand-lettered words, textured paper, and intentional design. Over time, my passion for handmade stationery evolved into a way to help others mark life’s most meaningful moments.
Whether it’s a wedding, a farewell, or a heartfelt thank-you, I craft each piece with care and purpose - imbued with the same intention that started it all: handwritten meaning.
Working from my Wellington home, I use only the finest materials - heirloom-quality papers, watercolour touches, and velvet ribbons - to elevate your words into something lasting. Every element is chosen to invite presence, emotion, and beauty.
As a dedicated Wellington calligrapher, I continue to study with the best artists to refine my craft. Each detail I create reflects not just skill, but soul.
Thank you for valuing the handwritten, the heartfelt, and the beautifully made.
